How the math works
- Whatnot commission is 8% of the sale price for most categories, 10% for sneakers.
- Payment processing is 2.9% of Buyer Paid plus $0.30. Buyer Paid is the sale price plus any shipping the buyer paid.
- Net to seller is your sale price after commission, processing, and any shipping you paid out of pocket (giveaways, refund-related adjustments).
- True profit is what's left after you subtract what you paid for inventory. Whatnot can't show you this. They don't know what you paid.
What this calculator doesn't cover
- Refunds. When a buyer refunds, Whatnot returns the commission and processing fee. You may still be out the shipping cost. Use the seller-paid shipping field to model that.
- Tips. Processed separately on Whatnot. No commission on tips in most categories.
- Boost or promotion spend. Handled in your Ledger CSV, not per sale.
- Sales tax. Whatnot collects and remits in most US states. Not part of your fee math.
